CENTRAL AFRICA REP.

I CIOFF Central african republic

Very early, and at the instigation of its President Mrs Béatrice Epaye, the National Section of CIOFF in the Central African Republic (CAR) became a very active member.

In addition to making possible the participation of troupes of artists on foreign stages, with impulse of M.Jean Roche CIOFF in the Central African Republic put into place the first “Dance and Music Festival in the Central African Republic” in Bangui.

II CAF and UNESCO

« In 2003, UNESCO proclaimed the oral traditions of the Aka Pygmies of Central Africa Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

The Aka Pygmies, based in the southwest of the Central African Republic, have developed a unique musical tradition, which is radically different from that of neighbouring ethnic groups. The polyphonic singing and the music and dances that accompany it are one of the most exceptional aspects of the oral traditions of the Aka Pygmies.

In this way, a akka music and dance festival is planned. » - UNESCO's sources
